Using your Over-the-Counter allowance
As a MyTruAdvantage member, you receive up to $100 every quarter to spend on select Over-the-Counter (OTC) health and wellness products — included as part of your plan!
To see what OTC products are available to you, refer to the OTC Catalog here: https://www.mytruadvantage.com/supplemental-2027
What are OTC products?
OTC products are non-prescription items commonly used to manage minor health concerns — helping you stay healthy and potentially reduce doctor visits and out-of-pocket costs. They go beyond just pain relievers and cold medicine. With your OTC benefit, you can shop for a wide variety of health-related products, including:
- Digestive aids
- Vitamins & minerals
- First-aid supplies
- Fiber supplements
- Topical sunscreens
- Oral hygiene items
- And much more!
What if I don’t use all of my OTC allowance that quarter? Do I lose it?
Members of MyTruAdvantage will receive up to $100 per quarter to purchase OTC products and medication, including nicotine replacement therapy not already included in the Part D benefits. Any unused quarterly allowance amounts will not roll over into the next quarter, and the unused benefits will be forfeited.
Quarterly benefit periods are distributed as follows:
- Quarter 1 (January, February, and March)
- Quarter 2 (April, May, and June)
- Quarter 3 (July, August, and September)
- Quarter 4 (October, November, and December)
How do I use my OTC benefit?
Your allowance is administered through a CVS benefit card that can be used at most CVS stores, online, or by phone. You can shop for approved OTC items at more than 7,000 CVS Pharmacy® stores (excluding Target or Schnucks stores). Access www.cvs.com/benefits to find benefit details and locations. If you are in the HMO plan, you must use your OTC allowance at a CVS Pharmacy retail location.
Three convenient ways to place an order.
Choose the way that works best for you:
1. In store:
- Visit your nearest CVS Pharmacy® store, where you can use your benefit unlimited times in store during the quarter, up to your account balance.
- Select from thousands of items in approved categories.
- Look for the blue labels that contain the OTCH indicator and SKU number.
- Most items in these categories will be available. Certain exclusions apply.
- Check out your items at the register by using your CVS OTC benefit card. At checkout, the cashier or point of sale system will automatically determine if an item is eligible under your OTC benefit.
- To avoid surprises, we recommend you download the CVS OTC Health Solutions® Mobile App.
- Go to any register to process your order. Simply swipe your card as a credit card. A PIN is not required.
- PLEASE NOTE: Product availability and regular retail prices in the store may vary.
2. Online: https://www.cvs.com/benefits
First time placing an order online? You will need to create a CVS OTC account. If you share an email with a spouse or caregiver who also has an OTC account, you will only be able to make one account. You must complete additional authentication to finish signing up.
Please note, this CVS account is specific to your OTC benefit. Online orders must be placed through https://www.cvs.com/benefits.
- Visit www.cvs.com/benefits and sign in. You can use your OTC benefit up to three (3) times online throughout the quarter, up to your account balance.
- Select “Shop OTC benefits”.
- Search and add items to your basket. Once you are ready to place your order, select “Checkout”.
- Confirm the shipping information and select “Place Order”. Please contact your Health Plan for any permanent address change needed.
- Enter your OTC benefit card number.
- You will be directed to the Order Summary. This page will show your order details and the delivery timeframe. You will receive emails with the latest status updates as your order is processed.
- IMPORTANT: Orders for each benefit period must be placed by 11:59 PM ET on the last day of the benefit period. Please review the order frequency limits located in the FAQs to avoid missing benefit amounts.
3. By phone:
Orders can be placed by calling 1-855-577-5196 (TTY: 711). You can talk to a live representative Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 11 PM local time. The Interactive Virtual Assistant (IVA) is also available to assist 24/7.
- Call from the phone number associated with your account. For verification, you will be asked for your date of birth and the last four digits of your OTC benefit card.
- You can use your OTC benefit up to three (3) times for phone throughout the quarter, up to your account balance.
- Please have your order ready before you call.
RETURN POLICY: Due to the personal nature of the products, no returns or exchanges are allowed. If you haven’t received your order, or received a defective or damaged item, please call CVS OTC Health Solutions within 30 days of placing your order. If your item is not in stock, an item of similar or greater value may be substituted in your order. The OTC benefit is not eligible for reimbursement for members in the HMO plan.

Important information for PPO plan members:
Members who are enrolled in one of our PPO plans, who make eligible purchases at an out-of-network retailer using personal funds may submit a reimbursement request through CVS Health (OTCHS). This can be done online, via the mobile app, or by phone.
- Reimbursement Eligibility: To be eligible for reimbursement you must provide receipts showing that you purchased eligible items during the quarterly benefit period you are seeking reimbursement. Members must be enrolled in a PPO plan. Claims must be submitted within 60-days of the date of purchase.
- Required Documentation: You must provide supporting documentation as proof of purchase. The member is required to submit a receipt that includes:
- Line-item details for each purchased item
- Store location to confirm the eligibility of the purchase
- Reimbursement Deduction: Any amount reimbursed to you will be deducted from your applicable balance. Note: If you have already used their entire balance for that period using an available purchase method, no reimbursement will be issued to you for that month.
- Decision Timeframe: CVS Health will review your request for eligibility and available benefit balance. You will generally receive a decision on that request within 30 days, but it may take up to 60 days.
Important: Reimbursement is limited to OTC products that are included in or are approved as part of the plan’s OTC product list. Refer to the OTC product catalog for a list of categories. Items that do not meet these requirements or do not fall into one of the applicable categories are not eligible for reimbursement.
- If CVS approves the reimbursement request, members will receive notice of approval. Approved claims will be reimbursed by check and deducted from the member's applicable benefit balance.
- If CVS denies the reimbursement request, CVS will provide a denial notice to the member.
Note: Exclusions and limitations for in-network services are the same for out-of-network services.
